MECHANIC 1, 2, & 3

We are seeking to fill several positions for MECHANIC 1. Maintenance mechanics are responsible for repair and maintenance of all equipment to help maintain a safe and productive environment.

MECHANIC 1 – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Mechanic 1 rate is reserved for mechanical maintenance employees who have mastered all Mechanical Entry Level skills and achieved the skills and qualifications required for Mechanic 1 according to the current certification plan. A satisfactory performance evaluation is also required. Must be capable of effectively maintaining all the equipment in his assigned area. In addition, the Mechanic 1 must have a working knowledge of the equipment in his area and have demonstrated sound judgment and ability in troubleshooting. Maintenance personnel will also be required to perform other duties as required.

MECHANIC 2 – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Mechanic 2 rate is reserved for thoroughly experienced and highly proficient maintenance employees who have mastered all Mechanical 1 skills and achieved the skills and qualifications required for Mechanic 2 according to the current certification plan. A satisfactory performance evaluation is also required. The Mechanic 2 must possess outstanding job knowledge and must have the ability to identify necessary repairs and repair parts required.   In addition, the Mechanic 2 must demonstrate proficient performance when required to work in areas other than normally assigned work area. Maintenance personnel will also be required to perform other duties as required. The required Technical/Non-Technical Skills are listed below:

MECHANIC 3 – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Mechanic 3 rate is reserved for thoroughly experienced and highly proficient maintenance employees who have mastered all Mechanical 2 skills and achieved the skills and qualifications required for Mechanic 3 according to the current certification plan. A satisfactory performance evaluation is also required. The Mechanic 3 must be able and willing to accept the Team Leader responsibility during his absence. The Mechanic 3 must be capable of coordinating all plant work orders to develop a maintenance plan. A Mechanic 3 must possess a complete knowledge of all equipment within the plant and be capable of managing all necessary repairs. A Mechanic 3 should be familiar with all equipment repair files and history records and be able to maintain all equipment documentation. A Mechanic 3 should understand parts inventory levels and suggest adjusting repair part inventories as necessary. A Mechanic 3 must be able to complete requisitions for repair parts. The Mechanic 3 must have demonstrated the knowledge and ability to independently direct maintenance activities in assigned areas and must accept leadership responsibilities as required. Maintenance personnel will also be required to perform other duties as required. The required Technical/Non-Technical Skills are listed below:

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  1. Field welding and cutting
  2. Proper use of hand tools
  3. Reading of drawings and sketches
  4. Troubleshooting
  5. Lubrication
  6. Measuring tools
  7. Machine alignment
  8. Pipefitting
  9. Proper rigging
  10. Steam Systems
  11. Proper maintenance of drive components
  12. Proper bearing maintenance
  13. Pump operation & maintenance
  14. Hydraulics
  15. Pneumatics
  16. Conveyers
  17. Math Level 1

NON-TECHNICAL SKILLS:
A. Safety

  1. Must demonstrate thorough knowledge and compliance with all EHS policies and
  2. Must be able to complete periodic Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS)         inspections, permits and proper use of all safety equipment.
  3. Must be able to conduct a safety meeting or huddle.
  4. Must be up to date on all training.

B. Performance

  1. Must be able to independently perform assigned duties.
  2. Must be able to independently provide shift coverage in primary area assigned.
  3. Must understand Work Order System
  4. Must assist in providing on the job training for other employees.
  5. Must be able to independently locate parts within the storeroom.
  6. Must be able to properly perform duties and complete required documentation such as maintenance work orders, PM work orders, time sheets and safety observations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Position requires a High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must have own tools.
  3. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  4. Employee must have valid driver’s license and be dependable.
