Cape Haze Resort
Challenge
Cape Haze Resort is a six-building, 144-unit condominium development in southwest Florida. Completed in 2007, the units are configured so that the master bedrooms back up to each other.
While the walls are solidly constructed— two layers of 1/2" drywall and two layers of 5/8" drywall on each wall with steel studs in between — some of the condo owners were hearing their neighbors.
The condo owners are very happy with the STOMP results. I'm even happier to have found an easy, low-cost solution," says association manager Clark Gillaspie.
Solution
Blue Ridge Fiberboard's STOMP is an acoustical shield for floor applications — a 5/32-inch-thick sheet designed for installation under carpet, vinyl, and other flooring materials. At Cape Haze Resort, however, the installers decided to add a layer to the vertical wall—with great results.
Installers added STOMP to only one side of the wall assembly, but found owners on both sides of the wall were equally happy. They stapled the material to the top of the wall, then installed 5/8-inch drywall over it. The work was quick, easy and affordable.
Additional STOMP Benefits
Stomp
Made of a 100% recycled polymer, STOMP employs sound abatement technology that has been used in the auto industry for more than 30 years.
